Brittany Spurrell BSc MSc MISCP

Brittany graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), Canada, with an honours degree in Kinesiology. During her undergraduate degree, Brittany worked as both an athletic therapist for the Varsity Women’s Volleyball team at MUN as well as a physiotherapy assistant in a long-term care facility. Through these experiences, along with her passion for sport and exercise, Brittany decided to pursue a career as a physiotherapist.

In 2016, Brittany moved to Dublin to complete a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy from University College Dublin. She completed her research project on hamstring injury among GAA athletes and as such has developed an understanding of exercise interventions to help manage this condition. The masters has also provided Brittany with in depth knowledge in the assessment and treatment of elite and recreational athletes, taking into account their training regime and fitness goals. She has worked as a chartered physiotherapist in private practice in the Ballsbridge area. She enjoys treating both sports-related injuries, chronic low back and neck pain, as well as several other clinical populations including stroke and Parkinson’s.

Brittany is a trained Pilates instructor having completed the Matwork Level I and II via the Pilates Teacher Training Institute. She enjoys teaching both group and one-to-one Pilates classes and can tailor Pilates programmes to target back, neck, lower limb and postural injuries. Brittany has also taught circuit-based classes aimed at the over 60s age group, which focus on developing strength, balance and flexibility and fully understands the importance of remaining active as we age.

When she is not working, Brittany enjoys keeping fit and healthy through hiking and running. She has completed two marathons and is aiming to complete her third this summer, the “Midnight Sun Marathon” in Norway!
