Physiotherapy | Dry Needling
Dry needling is a form of treatment used to treat trigger points or ‘knots’ in muscles. A trigger points are problem areas within the muscle that can contribute to muscle pain and dysfunction. During dry needling, a needle is inserted through the skin, into the muscle and directly into the trigger point. During treatment, a patient may feel some dull aching or twitching within the muscle. This is good! This response helps to release out the muscle making it feel much looser and to help it become pain free. Some patients may experience mild discomfort for 24 hours after treatment in the area that they were treated – this is completely normal!
